AEIS/S-AEIS Test Preparation

AEIS/S-AEIS Test Preparation

Guiding AEIS Students to Local School Enrolment

Many AEIS students who have been taught at Writers Studio have successfully enrolled in local schools. Our average passing rate is at a good 84%. Our special classes, taught by meticulous and experienced teachers who are well-versed in the local English syllabi, boast a strong track record of helping foreign students achieve their academic goals. With our dedicated approach and proven methods, we are committed to guiding our students towards success in their educational journeys in Singapore.

Supporting Korean and Chinese Students at Writers Studio

Did you know that 3 in 10 students at Writers Studio are from Korea or China? Since 2012, we have been dedicated to teaching foreign students, fostering a multicultural learning environment. These students are, to be given with, enrolled in local schools in Singapore, benefiting from our tailored programmes that support their language development and integration into the local education system. In fact, our teachers have helped them in passing the entrance tests, ensuring that they get a place to join a local public school.

At Writers Studio, we offer classes to prepare your child for the AEIS (Admissions Exercise for International Students) exam. This annual assessment, administered by Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE), evaluates international students’ proficiency in English literacy and numeracy to ensure they can handle the local curriculum. The AEIS exam covers different levels, from Primary 2 to 5 and Secondary 1 to 3, and is designed for students without a place in Singaporean schools. Conducted in September or October each year, with a supplementary session (S-AEIS) in February, the AEIS exam provides successful candidates with placement in suitable schools based on their performance and available vacancies. This exam serves as a crucial gateway for international students to access Singapore’s reputable education system.

For those unfamiliar with the Singapore curriculum, the test may present a greater challenge. Thorough preparation is crucial, including understanding the test content and format, practising with sample questions, and seeking additional support if necessary.

It’s important to note that competition for places in Singaporean schools through the AEIS is often intense, as there are usually limited spots available for international students. Therefore, performing well on the test is essential to increase the likelihood of securing a place in a Singaporean school.

Course Details

Our lesson structure consists of 2 hours of training per session, held twice weekly in the evenings at 6 p.m. or on Sunday afternoons.

To ensure your child is well-prepared for the AEIS exam, we recommend dedicating at least 6 to 12 months to training with us. If your child starts preparing closer to the test date, we will recommend increasing the frequency of training sessions to ensure they are ready.

Note:

For AEIS-Secondary, your child must be familiar with the English and Mathematics topics taught in Singapore’s mainstream schools for the level preceding the one they applied for. For instance, if they wish to enter Secondary 3, they should be comfortable with the Secondary 2 syllabus.

“My favourite story is Father Christmas. We get to act out a skit before we started analysing the characters. During that lesson, I learnt to write something meaningful. Best of all, I could get a lollipop as a reward. This is my third holiday course at Writers Studio.”

“I like to write but I needed to put on a bigger thinking cap. I learnt to make some bends in my story plot. I learnt new ways to write about the characters and what they do in their stories. I could pick up new vocabulary because at every paragraph, we are taught new phrases.”

“I enjoy the lessons taught during the Creative Writing Camp. There were so many interesting activities. I remember that we had to wear a face mask with a big nose and act out a character. It makes me think about what the character will say and do in my story. I learn to create new characters in my stories.”
